String Quartet

I think the best photographs have a good story behind them. The above image is probably my favorite from 2011, the year I returned to serious shooting after a way-too-long layoff. I had just dropped my son, Max, off at his daycare spot and was headed down a side street in Havertown where I park to catch the train. It had just stopped raining and the sky looked incredible … big, fluffy clouds mixed with the blue sky and sunshine struggling to break through. I was looking for a parking spot when I saw these four doves sitting on the phone lines above. In my haste to jump out and start snapping away, I forgot to throw the emergency brake on. My car’s a manual transmission, so needless to say I nearly ran over my own foot. But, thankfully, my feet lived to tell the tale and I got the image I had seen in my head, which rarely ever happens. The only little bonus is that the dove on the left looks like he’s taking his bow early.
